Description

Overview

SS-31 is an aromatic-cationic tetrapeptide containing D-arginine and 2โ€ฒ,6โ€ฒ-dimethyltyrosine. It is described as binding cardiolipin in the inner mitochondrial membrane.

In the laboratory it is used in isolated-mitochondria and cell-culture assays of cardiolipin interaction, electron transport and reactive-oxygen-species production. No claims are made regarding effects in humans or animals.

Typical in-vitro applications

  • Cardiolipin-binding studies
  • Mitochondrial respiration and ROS assays
  • Membrane-localisation imaging studies
