Description

Overview

MOTS-c is a mitochondrial-derived peptide encoded by a short open reading frame within the mitochondrial 12S rRNA gene. It is studied for its interaction with the folate cycle and AMPK signalling.

In the laboratory it is used in cell-culture models of AMPK activation, nuclear translocation and gene expression. No claims are made regarding effects in humans or animals.

Typical in-vitro applications

  • AMPK activation assays in cell culture
  • Mitochondrialโ€“nuclear signalling studies
  • Folate-cycle and purine-metabolism studies
